The Old, the Current, the Future: State of the Channel 2024 - Confessions of a Theme Park Worker
Speaking of oblivious guests, the ones who don't pull over to the side when they are looking in their stroller or ECV in front of another party, or in the middle of the street while traffic is moving to another destination. I've often said that foot traffic and ECV traffic should follow the rules of the road. Pull to the right, pullover if you need something and look behind you before you park. It's that simple. Be aware of your surroundings and nobody gets hurt. Including people in your party.
The one that really impressed me was a little girl that had no childhood. She was having health issues playing outside, so the parents went to the doctor. They ran several tests and discovered discovered
They ran several tests and discovered she was allergic to the Sun. When she went outside, she had to wear what was like an astronaut suit. This little girl wanted to go to Disney, but was denied by her parents concern for her health. That's when Disney stepped in. When they heard her story, they contacted the parents and made arrangements for them. After they closed the park, the family showed up. They kept the park open all night. This allowed the child to play , without the suit, just like any other child. KUDOS to Disney.
Were there any times the characters needed help?
Could you do all your intros and outros and explain each one? Along with that, give explanations on how you got started with your RUclips site and what happened between then and now.
You're a mind reader. I actually have a video on the intro's coming up thursday
💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖 U Would love to meet you and your family, but cant afford the parks God bless you as a human being of God's L💖VE and as a Pastor sharing and teaching "HIS L💖VING" ways.
You have given us the ins and outs of the hiring process at Disney. Could you do the same with the other parks? Along with that, give us the process from beginning to end on different jobs at each park.
You get this in retail to.
Working for a office supply center, print area I see way way to many of this entitle people. This has gotten even worse since 3/17/20, when c19 screwed us all. One I got to meet who was like the first complain on the BBB, is a congress person, I won't say who they area as they don't deserve any publicly, we had supply chain issues that today are only getting fix, but when they came in they though they could have it there way. Seen many of these, saddly that person and a teacher were the absolute worst.
Did you ever work with the Hercules characters?
Great Video. 😃👍♥️
Most of my videos are slideshows with still pictures. Although I do have a few videos like during the eclipse here in Central Texas back in April.
to be honest hard to see what your showing us with the camera in the corner covering it up or just in the way. but i love videos like this. its so cool to see what other people like to collect.
Your videos always cheer me up, Sir Willow!
Thank you so much ive been hoping for a updated video like this for the longest. My favorite is the nascars, and I've always wondered what the frisco sign in the middle was about and those amazing looking golden ears tyvm for breaking it all down My only question is the chip and dale hot air ballon what is in the inside of that balloon on the top and whats the backstory and meaning for it being present now that i see it up close its just looks beautiful once again thank you so much for this great video breaking it all down
It's a Christmas ornament that I picked up at Disneyland to Paris when I was there. Same thing with a couple of the other ornaments that are hanging
@SirWillow awesome and thank you for the response
I’m sorry you lost your good friend, Barry. You sure have many friends that send you things, that is so awesome, you are loved by many people.
How many books do you have on theme parks not like guidebook like books on the parks history
I'd have to look, but top of my head I would guess around 3 dozen. Give or take a little
Is that hot air balloon Worlds of Fun?
Yes
Remember watching this video way back, and now I can say I have become a cast member for DLR. Besides Traditions, the 2nd includes a more in depth Step into the magic and then if your role is in the hotels like me they have one more class called Where magic meets hospitality.
I agree but are you special or something?
The reason Craig liked you to "Tag Long" is that you're a Big Kid. Anybody (Adults) that plays at the parks like a Child is considered a Big Kid. It means you're having FUN. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Fun! I remember Barry from old livestreams etc., a friend I never got to meet. Thanks for the video tour!
I can’t believe you saved all of those boxes!! I just dropped off a package yesterday at the mailing center that I use and the woman who always waits on me seemed upset because all I had was a large envelope and not a BOX. Once she saw the painting, however, she approved.
I love your videos and I can relate to the annoyance you feel about all these things.
So is the Wild Mouse at Lagoon, outside of Salt Lake City in Farmington, Utah, a roller coaster? A chain pulls your cart upto the top, then let's you go. If feels like you're going to roll off the tracks, as it rolls it's way down the hills.
I like the Dogg-O. I had an Am Staff for 8 years. Best dog EVER!
What would happen to a cast member if they didn’t preserve the magic or go out of character if they were a face character?
If they broke character they would be fired pretty quick. I didn't see that happen though. they took it pretty seriously.
Ps forgot to mention Disney now tells attraction caste members we are allowed to have phone in our pocket on silence in case of a guest emergency in the park. Example includes if there is no cord phone in the area we could get to in time. Another example is if it’s after hours and there are no maintenance vehicles on stage we are allowed to take pictures on stage after every guest leave for the night.
Yay I am glad you made this video I could relate to everything in this video. I unfortunately got fired from Disney forever for a reason that was not even a friable offense. I was bullied by other caste members bad when working there and but they didn’t get punished at all. There was this one guy in Disney who got fired who Ik because he cursed at the guest once but we were glad he was gone to because he harassed us at times too. One girl I worked with took her phone out on stage and I told her it’s not appropriate and unfortunately I was the one who got talked to about it for not minding my own business which was shocking Disney does not care. One dumb thing I remember my friend who I worked with almost got fired for was going to get a Christmas cookie during her break not in costume but got a hot chocolate to and that’s a no because they say it’s only for the guests at the party. Ps thanks for the music in the video it fits the video perfectly.
One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone calls Silver Dollar City "Steal your dollar City" it really grinds my gears when i find Herschend extremely competitive with it's pricing in the theme park community.
When people claim they're massive disney fans but call disney world 'disneyland' 😡 absolutely gets on my nerves!
If you mean my slip on this one, I was definitely on the very tired side when I filmed. Normally that's something that gets on my nerves as well.
And if you didn't catch my slip- then good for me. hehe
@SirWillow oh no I didn't catch your slip 😆
When you say 'not appropriate for little kids to see' what does that mean?
I got an unpopular opinion on Disney. Every film since with Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons, or Bolt (whichever came first), except for Princess & the Frog and the Winnie the Pooh revisit, are cosmetically inferior to all films up to and including Home On the Range. I just think that CG is inherently inferior to fully hand drawn or hand drawn hybrid because it lends itself to a film being potentially rushed to meet a deadline at the expense of the story or the aesthetic. Granted, low budget hand drawn is generally an indocator of the same problem, but in CG no such indication exists, so the film can be hyped up only to come up short.
Here's one that I heard, though it's more about a know-it-all not knowing...um...at all. ME: I saw a documentary on History or Travel, or Discovery, one of those channels, it says at Tower of Terror there's about 2,000 drop sequences in the computer. HER: That show is out of date, just like all the others; I've been on it more than you have because I've been there 33 times, you've only been on it once. I happen to know that there's over 200,000. (For context my original notion of the 2000 drops was an honest mistake. Further research inflates the number to 2000 COMBINATIONS of drops, sounds, and visuals. Actually there are only about a dozen drop sequences.) Has more to do with someone consistently putting down your POV of BTS in favor of theirs without specific citation.
Before the show begins I assume when you say you "just wanna..." and don't even bother to finish the sentence--well whatever it is, I assume it's an act not fit for a pirest.
Honestly it's sad that your friend got termed unfairly like that. Wish he was more appreciated there and didn't get termed, for someone else's stupidity. Had a similar situation at work. A cocky youngster thought he knew how to do a job I'd been doing for years, better. Job was cleaning the fryer. He overflowed the floor with hot oil and he almost started a oil fire by not packing the lard correctly.
Great Video. 😃👍♥️
We miss Percy’s
Back in the early 1990s I still remember going to Silver Dollar City and remember Conductor Mike!
My daughter saw a number of people get away with things that should have caused their termination. Like photos backstage repeatedly! Using phones on stage. Seems some people get away with it and nothing happens.
Love your videos!!!! I am a Disney fan, Passholder and DVC member!!! So here's my opinion...#1 I would love to see Hollywood Studios show lots more of how movies are made ! Bring back the car chase! I love Indiana Jones..... But show me some new things - there are lots of exciting things they could share with us in the the Indiana Universise! #2 Tron.... as someone who doesn't ride coasters...Tron give a thrill to more than just the riders!!!!!!!! More Please!!!!! I love it! The music, the sound of the ride as it zooms all around you!!!! Love it! #3 Better rides for people who are handicapped like the wonderful People Mover.... great ez ride....but people who have mobility issues can't ride it - and it's a perfect ride for them!!!!! Another ez ride made maddenly difficult for a person in a scooter (or even a walker) is the all-newly updated Train!!!!!!!!! Major BOO!!!! Other rides like the little train to Discovery Cove (?) ez on...ez off! And so many more rides that let you stay of the scooter. :)
Here is a thought on cellphones in the park when working what if your diabetic and you use something like dexcom when your sugar drops and goes to low your phone will let you know with an alert and have to run off stage to check the phone to see what your sugar level is ?
Saw a coworker at the parks employee entrance, feet kicked up in the parking booth, headphones on playing games on his phone. Never saw him again the next week, something tells me management saw him like that too!
First time, i saw fancy tintype to see radar during a storm before Collingwood Family performed in Echo Hollow.
I remember someone getting in an argument in the Dining Common, over a date the night before. Former boyfriend thought he was still. . . out for semester.
As a former Custodial CP, I can say that we did use Smartphones for communication with our coordinators, managers, and fellow cast members. However, they were company issued and had to be picked up and dropped off at base at the beginning and end of every shift. We were allowed to use the timer function on those phones to count the “dwell time” on surfaces we needed to disinfect. Alongside this, we were allowed to use the translator app in a situation where we had a language barrier with a guest. We were allowed to keep our personal smartphones on us, but we were never allowed to pull them out under almost any circumstance, except in the case that 911 needed to be called. Hope that provides you with a bit of insight from a recent cast member!
I love it when pets get the zoomies. 😂
And we'll never know why. Though one end credits scene from Inside Out might have the answer...
I know one person got fired for safety violation for failure to stop the mat for a disabled person when they fell getting off the attraction ..
almost poetic that disney didn't want employees to have a phone but they push the guest to have to have experience their vacation through the phone.
I stay at the Beach Club villas. Leaving MK. after the fireworks, I was tired, hot and standing up in the bus because my parents raised me to give my seat to a lady or somebody older. So I just walk to the back and sleep standing up. Apparently we had a new bus driver who didn't know the route and made a wrong turn. I saw it. He had to maneuver the bus through a very tight gate and ran the back wheels over the curb. It was humid, the windows were dripping with water and he did the best he could to get us to our stop. This woman lost her... mind. "What is he crazy? Who is he? What's the bus number? I'm reporting him!!!!" I got off the bus, looked her in the eye, and said some things I won't repeat. It was something like lady, he got us back to our resort, he doesn't know the route why don't you chill out and go relax? Are you perfect? (It wasn't that nice.) I am old and crotchety now, been going to WDW for decades and frankly, I don't tolerate these people abusing CMs.
